The Position Monitoring System (PMS) is designed to display the position of the marine loading arm within its defined operating envelope. Utilizing a standard industry PC, it provides a live feed of the actual position of the marine loading arm.

  1. Angle Measurement:

    • A pendulum potentiometer on the inboard arm measures the angle relative to vertical.

    • A pendulum potentiometer on the outboard arm measures the angle relative to vertical.

    • A direct-coupled potentiometer at the base riser swivel joint measures the slewing angle.

  2. Data Transmission:

    • Information from the potentiometers is relayed through a PC connected to the local control panel.

  3. Additional Features:

    • Remote Maintenance for ease of diagnostics and troubleshooting.

    • Display Redirection via TCP/IP or modem for flexible viewing options.

  • Display Features:

    • Scaled display of the loading arms in both side and top views.

    • Multi Arm Display to view all loading arms installed on one jetty simultaneously.

    • Multi Arm Display switching capability between jetties.

    • Single Arm Display for focused monitoring of one arm.

    • Auto-activation of Single Arm Display in case of an alarm.

  • Alarm System:

    • Alarm beep and flashing angle indicator upon alarm activation.

    • Colored alarm ranges for quick visual identification.

  • Calibration and Position Tracking:

    • Operator calibration mode for adjustments.

    • Display of position as a percentage relative to the entire operating envelope.

    • Display of actual position in X-, Y-, and Z-axis coordinates.

  • Data Logging and Analysis:

    • History and trend overlays for performance tracking.

    • Saving of history and event data in CSV-format (Excel compatible).
