The Tuthill MD Vacuum Booster 850-2700 Series is a robust vacuum boosting solution designed to enhance the performance of vacuum pumps. These boosters are typically used in a wide range of industrial applications where fast pumping speeds and deep vacuum levels are critical.

Mechanical Seals:

The mechanical sealing on the rotor shafts and drive shaft ensures reliable operation. The mechanical seals include:

  • Water-cooled drive shaft seal (excluding motor mounting flange versions).
  • Cooling coils in the end covers, contributing to better thermal management.

Slinger Seals:

These boosters are also available with slinger seals, which:

  • Use a combination of mechanical drive shaft seals and a non-contacting, non-wearing slinger seal for enhanced durability.
  • Suitable for air and various gas applications.
  • Do not include cooling coils.

Low Mechanical Noise:

The M-D Pneumatics™ vacuum boosters are engineered to operate at 82 dB(A) or lower at blank-off, excluding motor and background noise. This ensures minimal noise pollution during operation.

Special Materials:

The standard construction materials include:

  • Cast iron housing, end plates, and end covers.
  • Ductile iron rotors and shafts. Special materials are available for certain models:
  • Stainless steel
  • Carbon steel
  • Ductile iron
  • Bi-Protec® Nickel/Armoloy® coating for additional durability.

Optional Motor Mounting Flanges:

These boosters are designed to be compatible with optional flange adapters, allowing the direct mounting of:

  • NEMA C-face motors (up to 75 HP)
  • IEC D-flange motors (up to 55 kW) This eliminates the need for separate base-mounted assemblies and coupling guards, simplifying installation and maintenance.
  • ASME PTC-9 testing (1 PSIG slip method).
  • Hydrostatic testing to 150 PSIG (10.35 bar g).
  • Pressure gas testing to 100 PSIG (6.9 bar g).
  • Seal leakage testing for reliability.
  • Supercharging Vacuum Pumps
  • Increasing Vacuum System Capacities
  • Reducing System Ultimate Pressures
