Dedicate Support

The VEGA FIBERTRAC 31 is a radiometric sensor designed for continuous measurement of liquids and bulk solids. It utilizes a flexible plastic sensing element, making it adaptable for use in a wide range of industrial applications, particularly those involving aggressive products, extreme process temperatures, or challenging measurement conditions.

Key Features:

  • Non-contact measurement: This enhances plant availability and reduces maintenance needs.
  • Flexible detector: Easy installation on both round and conical vessels.
  • Cost-effective: The sensor supports measuring ranges up to 7 meters, eliminating the need for multiple sensors.

Functionality:

The FIBERTRAC 31 works based on radiometric measurement principles, using gamma rays emitted by a Caesium-137 or Cobalt-60 isotope. The emitted radiation passes through the material (liquid or solid) being measured, and a detector on the opposite side captures the attenuated radiation. The attenuation is directly related to the material's level, density, and mass flow rate, providing accurate measurements.

Materials and Construction:

  • Detector Rod: Galvanized steel with a Santoprene rubber coating for durability and resistance.
  • Scintillation Material: Polystyrene is used for converting gamma rays into measurable signals.

Housing:

Available in two versions:

  • Aluminium or Stainless Steel.
  • Protection class IP66/IP67, ensuring durability and protection against water and dust.

Electronics Versions:

  • 4-wire electronics with 4…20 mA/HART communication.
  • Digital versions with Profibus PA and Foundation Fieldbus options for integration into industrial control systems.

Approvals:

The VEGA FIBERTRAC 31 is globally approved for use in hazardous areas, marine environments, and hygienic applications. Specific safety instructions apply based on the approval type (e.g., Ex approval).

This sensor is well-suited for industries that require robust, precise, and cost-effective level measurement in complex process environments.

1. PLICSCOM Display and Adjustment Module:

  • This is an optional, integrated display and adjustment module that allows for easy operation and configuration directly on the device. The PLICSCOM module provides a user-friendly interface for adjusting the sensor's settings, ensuring that users can manage the sensor without needing specialized tools.

2. PC with PACTware and DTM:

  • Alternatively, the sensor can be adjusted via a PC using the PACTware software and a corresponding Device Type Manager (DTM) for the VEGA FIBERTRAC 31. This software-based solution allows for detailed configuration and fine-tuning of the sensor, making it ideal for more complex or remote setups.

Bluetooth Version:

  • The Bluetooth-enabled PLICSCOM module offers the flexibility of a wireless connection, eliminating the need for physical cables during the adjustment process. This is especially convenient for users who wish to adjust the sensor remotely, for example, from a PC with PACTware and a Bluetooth USB adapter.

Two connection chambers are available depending on the instrument version, the signal output is either in the primary or in the secondary chamber.
