The VEGAPULS 6X is a radar sensor designed for continuous level measurement of both liquids and bulk solids in various industrial applications. It offers versatility by functioning reliably under all process conditions, making it suitable for diverse measurement tasks. The sensor provides:

  • Universal Application: Suitable for different industries where level monitoring of liquids and bulk solids is required.
  • Cost-Effective and Dependable: Optimized for high reliability and low maintenance costs.
  • Variable Antenna Systems: Its adaptable antenna system ensures effective measurement performance across various applications, even in challenging environments.
  • Maintenance-Free Operation: Once set up, it is designed to work continuously without requiring regular maintenance.

This sensor is ideal for a wide range of process industries, including chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals, and others, offering precise and continuous monitoring of level and ensuring efficient process control.

The VEGAPULS 6X is a versatile and maintenance-free radar sensor, designed for use in nearly all industrial sectors. It utilizes a non-contact measuring principle, offering high plant availability due to its wear- and maintenance-free operation. Its key benefits include:

  • Non-contact Measuring Principle: Ensures maintenance-free operation.
  • High Availability: The system is built to be reliable, with minimal downtime.
  • Accurate Measurements: Independent of process conditions, it delivers precise results.

Working Principle:

The device uses either continuous radar signals or short microwave pulses, depending on its frequency. These signals are emitted via the antenna, reflected by the material, and received back as an echo. The time difference or frequency shift between the transmitted and received signal is proportional to the distance, which is used to determine the filling height. This height is then converted into an output signal for accurate measurement display.

Material and Sealing:

  • Wetted parts are made from 316L, PP, PTFE, or PEEK.
  • Process seals are constructed from FKM, FFKM, EPDM, or PTFE.

Electronic Versions:

The VEGAPULS 6X is available in multiple electronic configurations:

  • 4 … 20 mA/HART (two or four-wire version)
  • Profibus PA, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus protocols
  • Features an integrated overvoltage arrester, additional current output, and an integrated radio module (PLICSMOBILE 81).

Approvals:

VEGA instruments are widely approved for various industrial applications, including hazardous areas, maritime use, and hygienic conditions. Specific approvals for Ex-certification and other industry standards can be found in the device's safety documentation and on the VEGA website under the "Downloads" section.

  • Direct Adjustment at the Measuring Point: This method allows for instrument adjustment through a display and adjustment module called PLICSCOM or via a PC using the PACTware software along with the required Device Type Manager (DTM).

  • Wireless Adjustment via Bluetooth: The Bluetooth-enabled display and adjustment module allows wireless adjustments via smartphones, tablets, or PCs. The connection can be established through a free app (available on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store) or through the PACTware software with a Bluetooth USB adapter.

  • Adjustment via PACTware or App: Remote systems, including HART Communicators and manufacturer-specific programs like AMS™ (Asset Management Solutions) or PDM (Plant Data Management), can also be used for instrument adjustments.

  • Voltage Supply/Signal Output:

    • For Display and Adjustment Module or Interface Adapter: This refers to the electrical supply required to power the display and adjustment module (e.g., PLICSCOM) or any interface adapter used for connecting the instrument to other devices or systems.
    • For External Display and Adjustment Unit: This supplies the voltage needed to operate external devices used for display or adjustments, such as remote controllers or wireless adapters.

  • Ground Terminal for Connection of the Cable Screening:

    • This is the terminal used to connect the grounding of the instrument or system to ensure electrical safety and to minimize interference from electrical noise or signals. The cable screening, typically used in shielded cables, helps protect signal integrity, especially in industrial environments with high electromagnetic interference (EMI).
